Election 2008

We took Cooper to vote. He was dressed very partriotic in his red, white, and blue. (Thanks Dave for the outfit!) We stood in line and we’re asked, “Last Name, Address.” Then they handed us our card to vote and the “I Voted” sticker. The cutest thing was they turned to Cooper and said, “Last Name, Address.” Cooper wanted everyone to know that he voted so we took a picture to prove it .  As you can see, Cooper is proudly wearing his “I Voted” Sticker.

Hope you all voted!

Cooper Is A Month Old

Cooper is growing like a weed. We recently took him to his one month check up on October 22nd. He weighed in at 9.12lbs and was 23in long. He is very tall for his age apparently. Not sure where he is getting his height since Chris and I are not very tall people.  Cooper also developed baby acne which peaked at 4 weeks and is finally starting to disappear. He looked like a hormonal teenager. He is also starting to sleep for longer stretches at night, but we are still waking up two or three times a night for diaper changes and feedings. These late night feedings are keeping mom and dad pretty tired, but we are hanging in there.

Cooper is starting to notice his mobile and he loves to look at lights. Cooper’s favorite place to hang out is in the kitchen safely tucked into his bouncer. He loves the bright lights and the sounds of the dishwasher and washer/ dryer running. If Cooper is in a bad mood, all we need to do is stick him in the kitchen and he instantly stops crying (Thank God!).

Chris and I have been lucky to get out without Cooper a few times. We’ve had Aunt Lizzy, Grandma Foley, and Grandma Tumolo who have watched him for a few hours. We’ve also taken Cooper with us to our friends’ houses for dinner and to play our newest addiction – Settler of Catan (board game). He’s been to church, but every time we go Cooper decides he wants to eat. So one of us ends up missing half the service to feed little Coop.

We keep falling more and more in love with Cooper every day. We have taken a thousand different pictures of him. We have chosen some of our favorite pics to share with you. Click here to see our most recent editions.

8 Pounds, 6 Ounces

Cooper is now 2 1/2 weeks old.  We went to the pediatrician on Tuesday for the second time since he was born.  Normally, a baby loses a little weight once it is born and should get back to its birth weight after 2 weeks.  Our pediatrician weighed Cooper and he was a pound heavier than his birth weight!  We weren’t sure if he was eating enough since his feedings are kind of short but our pediatrician said he could even eat a little less.  Bottom line: we’re raising an efficiently feeding little pig!

By the way, Cooper lived up to his nick name at the pediatrician’s office too.  He held nothing back!

Check out the new photos.

Super Duper Pooper Cooper

We’ve added some more photos of our little hairy monkey.  Last night was our first night at home.  It sure was nice being at home instead of the hospital.  Cooper did pretty well.  Mom and Dad actually got a decent amount of sleep too.  Cooper is pretty popular at home.  His grandmas keep fighting over who gets to hold him!

Cooper earned several nicknames from the nurses at the hospital.  One of them being Super Duper Pooper Cooper which he earned after his first bowel movement.  Way to go Cooper!

Welcome Cooper!

Welcome Cooper Brandon Foley!  Cooper entered the world today at 3:28 am on his mom’s birthday (and right on his due date)!  Cooper is 7 lbs 8.6 oz and 20 inches long. We have posted pictures of Cooper and his family right after his birth on our photos page.

Susanne and I spent most of the day yesterday without realizing that she was going into labor.  We slept in and then went for an hour and a half walk.  Then we came home, made a nice breakfast, and cleaned the condo a little bit.  Susanne was feeling some contractions throughout the day but we didn’t know if it was false labor or the real thing.  We went for another, shorter walk in the evening and then the contractions started getting slightly stronger – we still weren’t sure if it was real labor yet.

Susanne’s parents gave her a gift card to Macaroni Grill for her birthday, so we ordered some curbside to go pasta and ate it at home.  She couldn’t finish eating before the contractions got too strong for her to want to eat.  Shortly after dinner, we decided we should start charting the contractions only to find out that Susanne was having contractions every 5 minutes around 8pm.  We called our parents and our doula, Jen, and before you knew it Susanne was having contractions every 2-3 minutes so we decided to head to the hospital.  When we arrived at the hopsital at 11:30pm, Susanne was 5cm dilated and 100% effaced.  By 2am Susanne was fully dilated and starting to push.  The pushing did not last too long – an hour and a half. So Cooper was born at 3:28am over Texas soil (in a baggie under the bed – sent from my mom – yes, Cooper is as close as you can get to a native Texan!).

Mom, Dad, and baby are doing well. We expect to stay at the hospital until Wednesday when we will head home to start our new life as a family of three. We cannot wait to show off our cute little bundle of joy. He has a full head of hair and could not be any cuter!
