Family Picture

This weekend my Brother-in-law, Trent, tried to take a family photo for us. Sigh… Do you know how difficult it is to get two 8 months olds and a two year old to all look at the camera at the same time? Trent is a great photographer and he can take some really great pictures, but he had some difficult subjects to work with. We took close to 250 pictures and I was not really crazy about any of them- which was not Trent’s fault. Ugh! Below is a picture that turned out halfway decent.

Who has a birthday on Christmas?

“Cooper, who has a birthday on Christmas?”Mommy asks.
“Baby Jesus,” Cooper replies.
“Should we have a birthday party for him?”
“Yes, happy to you,” Cooper says with enthusams.
“What kind of cake should we make baby Jesus?” Mommy asks again.
“A tow truck and race care cake.” Cooper says.

This is the same response he gives me every time I ask him who has a birthday on Christmas and what kind of cake does Baby Jesus want….Too Cute!

Dear Santa,

So we keep asking Cooper want he wants Santa to bring him for Christmas and his response is always the same. So I thought I would write a cute little Dear Santa Letter from Cooper below.

Dear Santa,
I want you to bring me a present. I want a little silver car. Thank You.
Love you,
Cooper

Cooperisms

So There have been a few things that Cooper has said lately that I wanted to record so I would not forget. Chris said to me last night, ” You know, we will not have a house full of babies soon.” He’s right. All of our kids are going to grow up soon, all to soon. So I want to remember the cute things that Cooper says and does.

Our neighbors have a inflatable Santa Clause in their yard that they inflate at night when they turn on their Christmas lights. He goes to the window every morning and tells me, “Santa’s sleeping or Santa’s night night.” I got into the habit of telling him that Santa only wakes up at night when it is dark. So Cooper asks me all day if it is dark yet. How cute is that. He gets so excited when it is nighttime and Santa wakes up! He proclaims loudly, “Santa’s awake!”

He calls a spoon a “foon”.

He was eating a food bar yesterday and he says to me, “Ummmm, Delicious!” (Hilarious!)

There was a spider in the bathroom the other day when Cooper went to use the potty. I took the spider and grabbed it with a tissue and put it in the potty. Then Cooper went to the potty. When we went to flush the toilet, Cooper said, “Bye Bye Spider. Have a nice day.” (Too bad he did not know the spider had met his demise.)

I will add more Cooperisms as they come to me, but that is it for now.

Anna May & Molly 7 Months Old

7 Months was a huge developmental jump for the girls. During this month they have learned or started to do:
Sit up unassisted
Babble (ma, dada, wawa, and other noises)
Rocking on hands and knees
Learning to self feed with puffs
Starting to arm crawl, but not a ton

The girls are so cute and as they are getting older, I am starting to really bond with them. Cooper has even started to interact with them more as they have become more alert, interactive, and mobile.

Chris took some really cute pictures of the girls last night. Enjoy!

So Much For Weekly Updates

I give up…I just cannot get my act together to post every week. There will be weeks were I might be able to get 3 posts up in a week and then things get crazy and it could be a month until next post. So I am just going to give up the weekly updates.

Cooper (25 Months Old)
He is talking so much. He talks in sentences and he says words I did not even know he knew. We recently took him to the doctors and the doctor told me that Cooper’s language skills are that of a 3.5 year old. The doctor joked with me and said, “Cooper looks like a three year-old, is potty trained like a three year old, and understand and communicates like a three year old. Are you sure he is 2?” Cooper is by far taller than all this little friends that are around the same age as him.
Height: 36.5” (90%ile)
Weight: 32lbs (86%ile)

Anna May (One week shy of 7 months)
She finally learned to sleep unswaddled and without a pacifier right before she turned 6 months old. She got a cold and could not breath with the paci in her mouth so we finally just took it away.  That night was horrible, but after 2 hours of crying, she finally fell asleep and no paci since then. This is a huge relief for me to have her not dependent on swaddling and her pacifier. She sleeps through most naps and sleeps at least 11 hours at night without waking for her paci or from coming unswaddled now. She is rolling in all directions. Can sit up on the floor on her own for a few seconds, longer if supported with a boppy pillow- actually for 30 minutes at a time. She has the greatest chuckle/ laugh. She goes nuts in her jumperoo and can jump and jump and jump. She makes me tired watching her go. She is a cuddle bug at night when I am putting her down for the night, loves to be snuggled against Chris or my chest. I am trying to soak up the moments when she will still let me snuggle her because before I know it, she is not going to want to snuggle like that. She is just such a happy baby and I love her, the little person she is becoming!
Height: 26.7” (72%ile)
Weight: 14lbs (8%ile)

Molly (One week shy of 7 months)
She is a hute. Her personality has sort of changed in the past month. She use to be my happy baby, but recently she seems to me more touchy or serious. I don’t know if it is a phase or if she stay this way. She always seems to be deep in thought or studying someone or something very hard. She has a sweet smile and she smiles and then quickly turns her head away in a very bashful way. She wants to sit on her own and play with toys most of her awake time now. She just cannot quiet support herself while she is sitting so I have to proper up with a boppy pillow too. She is almost crawling. She uses her arms and sort of pulls herself towards the toys she wants. She does not actually use her legs, but she is almost at the point where she might army crawl if you ask me. She is my champion sleeper. She can sleep 13 hours at night if I would let her. She takes two solid naps as well. I guess she just burns a lot of energy trying to sit and scoot and needs that amount of sleep.
Height: 26.3” (56%ile)
Weight: 14lbs 4oz (11%ile)

ECing, Elimination Communication, Infant Potty Training the Twins

Okay, you might think I am nuts, but I started doing infant potty training with the girls, also known as elimination communication/ec. I did this with Cooper at 5/6 months old. He started pooping on the potty at 6 months and I rarely changed a poopy diaper after that! It was fantastic. It has also make potty training Cooper fully now at 2 incredibly easy because he is already familiar with the potty and poop trained. In fact, he has been waking up from his naps dry and some morning dry! Wow, you cannot beat that.

So I am tired of changing poopy diapers so I thought I would give it a try with the girls (5.5 months old). I am putting them on the potty after I feed them and after nap right now. I say “psssss” an sign potty to cue them to go potty. I have read the more frequent times that babies tent to pee/ poop is after naps and after eating, which is why I have chosen these times to take them to the potty. Well, after a week of trying. The girls have been peeing on the potty pretty frequently after naps and after eating. And this morning was the first time Molly actually pooped in the potty! Horray! I am so stinken excited. I could careless if they pee on the potty, I am more concerned with teaching them to poop in the potty. I hope it happens again!

It is so funny what makes a mommy happy. But not changing poopy diapers is one of them. Especially since I am part time cloth diapering and I hate to clean/ change poopy cloth diapers.

He’s 2

Happy Birthday Cooper Brandon Foley!
DSC_0503Haha, this picture cracks me up. Cooper is trying to feed his car to Anna. I felt like this picture really captured Cooper’s mischievous smile.

I just cannot believe that my baby is two years old. I will post pictures from his birthday party on Sunday in our weekly update.
