Enjoy the blessing that God granted the both of you; your son! It is my prayer that Cooper is raised in the belief of Jesus Christ. I believe that a child needs to be wise in the things of this world and and heavenly world at the same time. A child needs to feel comfortable in the present world but always looking and ready for the eternal world to come. I feel sharing the earthly things like santa isn't bad or wrong, it helps a child to relate to other children and helps them learn to believe or have faith in things in general so that the concept of hopeing in things of the heavenly nature comes easier. I presented santa as a helper to show God's way of blessing children through out the world no matter the parent's religious beliefs or circumstances. When Kristy was older and asked "is Santa real?" I replied "What does your heart tell you? What do you want to do? Do you want to believe in santa or not, it is your choice. Kristy there will come many times in your life that you need to make decisions or choices to believe in things that no one else chooses to believe in BUT what matters is what YOU choose to believe in. Santa is an idea of providing gifts to all children and that's a good idea but your belief in Jesus and God's kingdom is a much bigger and more important belief. The belief in Jesus as the Son of God who died for our sins is a belief that will carry you through this life into the next life to live with Him. So believing is a choice; a right or privilage we have so choose carefully whatt to believe in and always know why and then be strong enough to stand up for for beliefs even when others don't believe." She walked away that day stating that she wanted to believe in santa a little longer with some of her friends.
Just food for thought! Love you all and Merry Christmas. The Jesus birthday cake is something we have done every year; keep it up.

Katherine:

AMEN. I raised my first child to believe in Santa (the first lie we tell our children). She was devistated to learn at the age of 7 he was make believe. I decided not to raise my next two believing in Santa, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, etc. Children should know the reason for each season.
Love, hugs, peace and good health to everyone!

Our little one giggled this last weekend too!

We're not telling Anne Marie about Santa Claus. I want her to know about Jesus and Saint Nicholas and that because our Lord was born, the season of giving was created, not the season of GETTING. When I was a kid, I was so concentrated on what I deserved, what I wanted. I didn't understand the phrase "Some kids won't have a Christmas this year." I thought Santa visited everyone! My plan is to give Anne Marie gifts from her dad and me, not Santa, and to help others enjoy Christmas.

Unfortunately, people asking "What's Santa getting you this year?" has already started!!!
